ABOUT US
ABOUT US
In a world that values polish over vulnerability, we’re reclaiming the power of awkwardness. Why? Because awkward is authentic and charming. It’s a breath of fresh air. Sometimes in our quest to be seen as competent, professional and sophisticated, we forget the value of being real. Isn’t it interesting how we love and appreciate awkwardness in others yet fight it off when we feel it in ourselves? Moms self-report loneliness in staggering statistics, probably because they feel no one truly knows the truest version of themselves. And there’s one way to make that happen—by getting awkward.
It’s simple but powerful: Once you give yourself permission to be awkward, fear loses its edge. This is when growth happens, relationships deepen, and obedience moves us from frustration to abundance. Perhaps, awkwardness isn’t a weakness but your greatest asset. What a liberation!
We’re entering a new era of earnestness. It’s about showing up as awkward as necessary to express real kindness to other moms. We will be wild, weird, fun, authentic and a little freer. We will become comfortable embracing our unique spark because denying it leaves everyone around us starving for warmth and light.
This year is about to get awkward … in a good way.
Here’s how we’ll do it.
Speak kindness
Our words have power like the sun — to illuminate, to heal, to bring life. In a world flooded with noise, we will speak with purpose. We will fill our homes with encouragement, shape our children with truth and shift atmospheres with the power of kindness.
Own your story
Your story is not something to be buried in shame or polished into perfection. This year, we will stand tall, unashamed of where we’ve been, because our testimony isn’t just ours — it’s a weapon.
Enjoy the joy
Joy is a holy rebellion — a refusal to let anxiety be in charge. It’s laughing without apology, embracing the imperfect and finding beauty in the ordinary. This year, we will not wait for better circumstances to be glad. With God at our side, we will shine, rejoice and fully enjoy the joy.
Audacious faith
Audacious faith means leaping when logic says to stay put, asking when doubt whispers “don’t” and expecting more because Jesus promised greater things. This year, when God calls us to move, to grow, to believe for more — we won’t tiptoe. Because he says so, we will.
Frequently Asked Questions
We're so glad you asked! MomCo (formerly MOPS International) is a non-profit organization that encourages and equips moms of young children to realize their potential as mothers, women and leaders, in relationship with Jesus and in partnership with the local church. MomCo — originally, simply known as MOPS (Mothers of Preschoolers)—was founded in 1973 when seven women in Colorado invited moms to meet regularly to grow together as women, parents, and leaders, with the ultimate goal of reaching women with the hope of Jesus. Today, the small gathering they called MOPS now extends to 101+ countries, 25 languages, 72,000+ meetings a year and influences over a million moms annually.

Formal morning meetups occur roughly every other Tuesday that BVSD is in school and start at 9:15am and end at 11:15am. After dropping your kids off in childcare, relax with some fresh coffee or tea and enjoy a potluck-style breakfast with other moms. After time for connection, we will spend time in a larger group activity; these activities will include a variety of topics throughout the year that are relevant to parents of young children and incorporate this year's theme, Make It Awkward. On alternating Tuesday mornings from formal meetups, we have a more freeform style. Childcare begins at 9:15am and ends at 11:15am. Hot coffee and tea will be available. Use this time as you wish! You can sit in the "quiet zone" and catch up on work, hang out in the cafe and chat, or use craft supplies from our craft closet.
Evening meetups occur on the third Thursday of the month when BVSD is in school and start at 6:30pm and end at 8:30pm. These meetings do not have childcare, and follow the same format as our formal morning meetings. Enjoy a potluck-style dinner and time for connection and growth with other moms!
Many meetings will incorporate Christian themes, but moms of any or no religion are welcome. No matter your background or beliefs, mothering is hard work, and we all need a safe and supportive environment - this is what we're working hard to create.
Childcare is available for children ages 6 months - 5 years old during our Tuesday morning meetups. Infants under the age of 6 months are welcome to attend meetups with moms. Childcare workers are caring, dedicated individuals who are interviewed and background checked, so you can be confident that your little ones are in good hands.
Childcare is not available for our Thursday evening meetups.
Yes! We would love to meet you. Please send us an email to let us know that you'll be stopping by so that we can ensure we have enough activity materials and space in childcare, if necessary.
